One Nation...

I had the opportunity to go to a Triple A baseball game the other night. It was hot and fairly uncomfortable until the sun crept below the stadium facade. It was a great game and ironically, Sacramento was playing Fresno...Sacramento won...

As I was returning to my lawn chair (we had lawn seats which was awesome for $7...I love AAA), a beautiful voice rang from the field as the National Anthem began. This girl could sssaaaaaannngggg...not just sing if you know what I mean.

I love America and all that it has to offer, but I had a Dinger Dog, Garlic Fries and a Diet Coke in hand and had no way to take off my hat and stand at attention. Not to mention that the $20 I was holding was calling out my name.

As I was moving along the concourse, I realized I was THE ONLY PERSON not standing at attention. You may be shocked at the looks I got as I moved my way down the concourse and toward my seat. Finally, after deciding I should stop before the large man in front of me would help me wear my Dinger Dog rather than eat it, I paused to let the young lady finish a quite beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

Then it hit me. What if we gave Jesus the same attention we give Ole' Glory? What would our world look like if our soul stood at attention every time we heard the name of Christ? What would our country look like if we pledged allegiance to Jesus and not a flag?

Again, I am all for America and am patriotic and all that jazz, but shouldn't we be more about Jesus? Shouldn't our lives pause and stand at attention every time we reflect on all that God has done for us through His son Jesus? I wonder what life would be like...

Maybe, if we paid the same respect to Christ as we do the flag we truly would be "One nation under GOD..." Just a thought...

New to Creekside

What's up??

I get that question a lot.

I think I ask that question a lot.

This will be a place that we can ask that question of each other in various ways. Here you will be able to find out what's up with me as I progress on this journey with Christ here in Martinez, CA.

Thus far, it has been a wonderful journey...all two weeks of it.

Thanks for hanging out with me and I look forward to casting nuggets of wisdom, funny tidbits or a whole host of other things.
